한 아티스트의 수많은 곡들 중,
단 한곡이 꽂히면 꽤 오래간다.

Kelly Clarkson이 이미 엄청난 인기를 끌었을 때도
나는 그녀를 다소 과소평가하며 대충 음악을 들었던 것 같다.

아메리칸 아이돌이 국내 케이블 TV 온스타일에 정식 방송되면서,
시즌 1의 우승자였던 Kelly Clarkson의 수많은 도전곡 중
가장 빛났던 Areatha Franklin의 "You're All I Need To Get By"는
실제 음원이 존재하지 않아, TV에서 오디오만 추출한 음원이 돌아다닐 정도였다.

이 무대를 이렇게 뒤늦게 접하고 (이미 대스타인 그녀의 데뷔 모습을 국내에서는 그때서야 봤으니...)
그때부터 유튜브를 찾아 헤매고 포스팅하고, 음반을 사거나 구해왔던 시간들을 보상이라도 해주듯
2010년 5월 4일 첫 내한공연의 위력은 참으로 대단했다.
업계를 떠난지 오래되어 해외 아티스트들의 공연장 근처에 갈 생각은 전혀 못했는데,
그때만큼은 내 올타임-넘버원 아티스트들을 잠시 잊고
Kelly Clarkson의 라이브 무대에 흠뻑 젖었던 기억이 아직도 새록하다.
그리고, 그 어떤 오디션 프로그램들을 보더라도 늘 이 무대가 떠오른다. 비교하게 된다.

오늘, 지금, 이순간 갑자기, 오랜만에 흐르는 익숙한 음색에 감사한다.
그로 인해, 더위와 장마와 오랜 상처에 지쳐 무너진 내 영혼이 잠시 쉴 곳에 머무른다...

그리고, 요새 들어 자주 귀에 들린...(이상도 하지)
이 곡은... 결국 몇 개월 만에 내 컬러링 중 하나가 되었다.
아득한, 아련한 느낌을 주는 멜로디, 서글픈 보컬색... 늘상 되풀이되는 그 기억. 이 느낌.
